ATLANTA - GeorgiaChron -- Atlanta, GA, — The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) proudly held its 1st Annual "The Power to Drive Change Fundraising Gala" on December 14, 2023, at the Love Official Event Center in Atlanta, GA. This exclusive event marked the launch of AAWTA's transformative initiative, "The Power to Drive Change," dedicated to enhancing the representation of African American women in the trucking industry.
Hosted at the elegant Love Official Event Center, the evening featured a red carpet entrance adorned with colors symbolizing AAWTA's mission. Celebrity host Christian Nelson added to the occasion.
The gala highlighted the accomplishments of AAWTA through encouraging billboards and red-carpet interviews conducted by WeBrand Media, featuring Madison Recording Artist "Couga" from Humble Sound/Empire Records. Notable guests included Jeremy Meeks, Carlos Spencer & Michael "Mike Mike" Phillips of 95 South, Justin Jayes, Melissa Meeks, Michelle Foye, Chief Tregaye, and AAWTA's Founder, Nicole Ward.

Guest speakers, including AAWTA members and business development experts, shared inspiring stories, setting the stage for a night filled with entertainment. The event featured a celebratory toast by Jeremy Meeks, a performance by 95 South, and live music by G.Nation, all contributing to the festive atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the "Power to Drive Change Scholarship." AAWTA recognized education partners Kameel Gaines Rig on Wheels and Zeta Driving School, awarding three trucking scholarships to deserving individuals.
The gala's success was made possible by the generous support of over 30 small businesses and major corporations, Top Golf, such as Mister Car Wash, First Watch, Titio's Vodka, and Post Meridian, and more.
