ATLANTA - GeorgiaChron -- The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) gracefully took a hard smack when the unexpected unemployment claims abruptly entered the system due to layoffs from the Corona Virus Pandemic. The Pandemic affected everyone, regardless of what industry you served in. All were affected including the 500,000 Georgians who are currently unemployed and are being ignored by the GDOL. Are these Georgians being ignored due to the GDOL mismanaging funds and the GDOL has no idea how to rectify the situation or is the GDOL understaffed and they again don't have the funds or knowledge of how to put Georgians to work by hiring more people? In speaking with hundreds of Georgia who are out of work it is clear the GDOL is violating their own mission statement of, " To foster and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers and retirees of the United States, improve working conditions advance opportunities for profitable employment and ASSURE WORK-RELATED BENEFITS AND RIGHTS." Since the GDOL says their mission statement is "assure work related benefits and rights" why are 500,000 Georgian's rights being violated every time a claim goes unpaid, a telephone calls goes unanswered and an email is not returned? Why are there so many unanswered questions for Georgians who have paid into their unemployment account and there are no discrepancies, but the claims are not being paid? Why are Georgians feeling neglected, scared, suicidal and underserved because they have been depraved by the only source of income at their disposal? Why has Mark Butler and the GDOL and staff failed 500,000 hard working Georgians? The GDOL stated there are 164,000 jobs available on the GDOL website. However, how many employers are actually hiring for the positions or they building up their database? In closing, GDOL and Mark Butler are placing themselves in a position for change. Just as the state of Georgia turned red to blue in less than 60 seconds, Mark Butler has definitely showed 500,000 Georgians, myself included, it is time for his tenure to come to an END!
