Mayor Bottoms to Join Groundbreaking for Oakland Cemetery Bell Tower Rehabilitation

WHAT:Mayor Bottoms will join the Historic Oakland Foundation to preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of the historic Oakland Cemetery Bell Tower.

Oakland's Bell Tower building is the most recognizable building on Oakland's grounds. The rehabilitation of the building is slated to begin December of 2021 and will transform the tower into a flexible event, exhibit, classroom and meeting space which will be more accessible to the public.

Oakland Cemetery—listed on the National Register of Historic Places—was founded in 1850 as a municipal cemetery, and became a City of Atlanta park in 1932.
