ATLANTA, Feb. 26, 2024 ~ As the nation's only fast casual chicken salad restaurant concept, Chicken Salad Chick has been experiencing a consistent trajectory of growth. With plans for aggressive expansion in 2024, the brand has closed out 2023 with impressive numbers. A total of 32 new restaurants were opened, resulting in a more than 33 percent increase in total unit count from the previous year. This expansion included new locations across 14 states, such as Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia. Notably, this also marked the introduction of the first-ever Chicken Salad Chick in Colorado, bringing the fast casual concept to a total of 18 states.
In addition to expanding its presence through new locations, Chicken Salad Chick also signed 18 franchise agreements with both new and existing franchisees. These agreements will result in the development of 53 new restaurants over the next several years in states like Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia and Maryland.
One of the highlights for Chicken Salad Chick in 2023 was the debut of The Chick Melt. This was the brand's first melted specialty sandwich offering and it quickly became a fan favorite. In fact, over half a million Melt sandwiches were sold following its October launch through the end of the year. Customers can customize their Melt sandwich by choosing from Chicken Salad Chick's 12+ chicken salad flavors or pimento cheese. It is then combined with provolone cheese and served on a toasted croissant using state-of-the-art toaster technology to achieve the perfect fusion of crispy exterior and gooey interior.
