Directed by the late Bill Rahn, of Hiawassee, the faith-based drama, Square Pegs, will screen in the Blairsville Cinema on June 8th and 9th.

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. - GeorgiaChron -- Filmed entirely in Georgia, Square Pegs features Blairsville icon, Loretta "Nana" Durden, in her acting debut as church elder and retired judge, Althea Cummings. Durden is author of the book, Legend of the Hole in the Wall: in Blairsville, Georgia. Also featured in the movie are Union County High School teacher, Chris Adams, who plays the part of attorney Lane Steele, with other north Georgia locals, Pete Libert, Mark Fincher, and father-son team, Dale and DJ Johnson, working on the crew. Aside from directing, Rahn appears in a cameo role as a deliveryman.

"It seemed fitting to first screen the movie in Blairsville," said producer and screenwriter, James Houston Turner, of Austin, Texas, who brought the project to Rahn in 2021, who in turn recruited Loretta, Chris, Pete, Mark, Dale, and DJ into the project, which was filmed in early 2022. "Bill was a genius at stretching a dollar into three," says Turner, "and that's exactly what I needed with the tiny budget that we had. Bill took our "Widow's Mite" budget and made it work beautifully, with The Independent Movie Review praising Rahn's gentle touch by saying, "Among Christian films, Square Pegs delivers."

Square Pegs follows the journey of Pastor Mac McCoy and his bartender daughter, Jodie, who end up in a courtroom battle against one another, with each accusing the other of not knowing what it's like to walk in their shoes. So the judge orders them to swap roles for a week and find out. The movie is heartwarming, emotional, and sometimes humorous as Mac and Jodie experience life outside of their comfort zones.

One of the humorous scenes features a pickled-egg-eating contest between Jodie and a bar patron. The end credits showcase enjoyable takes of Jodie's various on-set egg-eating challengers, including Director Rahn. Says Turner, "It's worth staying for the credits to see people spitting out those peppered hardboiled eggs."

Turner produced the movie through his production company, Ruby Rock Films, in cooperation with Rahn's north Georgia production company, Tri-Rahn Pictures. "Audiences today are wanting positive content," says Turner, "and faith-based movies are on the rise, so we hope people will turn out and support this inspirational film."

Advance tickets for the screening of Square Pegs are available through the Blairsville Cinema, at www.blairsvillecinema.com.
