CLEARWATER, Fla., June 6, 2024 ~ The demand for pickleball facilities has reached an all-time high in 2024, according to a report by The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC). As the largest network of sports and recreation facilities in the nation, SFC manages nearly half of its facilities with pickleball courts. This includes the newly opened Rhythm and Rally Sports and Events in Macon, Georgia, which has been touted as the world's largest indoor pickleball facility after converting a vacant mall.
In response to this growing demand, SFC has announced that it will be managing the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center in Cape Coral, Florida. Set to open in July 2024, this facility is designed to become a central hub for both competitive and recreational pickleball players. It will feature 32 permanent pickleball courts alongside 12 tennis courts.
According to SFC, over 90% of community planners and facility developers are now considering including pickleball in their feasibility studies for new complexes. For venues without permanent courts, SFC reports that new and existing facilities can easily convert their playing surfaces to accommodate pickleball.

Jason Clement, CEO of The Sports Facilities Companies, believes that pickleball is more than just a sport – it is also a catalyst for community development and social engagement. "Through the establishment of facilities like Rhythm and Rally and the upcoming Lake Kennedy Racquet Center," he said, "we are not only meeting current demands but are also influencing the future of urban sports facilities."
Paul Midkiff, co-founder of Southern Pickleball, praised SFC for being at the forefront of the pickleball movement. "It's clear that The Sports Facilities Companies is helping our community meet the demand for courts," he said. "Notably, in Macon, we've had the ability to host events at what is now the world's largest indoor pickleball facility, which has significantly enhanced the player and spectator experience."
SFC's existing and future venues that accommodate pickleball include the Myrtle Beach Sports Center in South Carolina, the Rocky Mount Event Center in North Carolina, and the Crown Sports Center in Maryland. Other facilities include Iron Peak Sports and Events in New Jersey, Highlands Sports Complex in West Virginia, and The Bridge Sports Complex in West Virginia.
