Four-day, tuition-free camp at the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta will serve rising 9th–12th graders with STEM instruction, leadership development, and academic literacy programming
ATLANTA - GeorgiaChron -- Five Horsemen Nonprofit, Inc. (FHN), a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to empowering Atlanta Public Schools students, will host its Summer STEM, Leadership & Academic Literacy Camp from Wednesday, July 22 through Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta – Leadership & Learning Center, located at 569 M.L.K. Jr Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30314. The camp will run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is completely free of charge for all participants.
The camp is open to students entering grades 9 through 12, including members of the Class of 2027. It is designed to build academic confidence, leadership capacity, and STEM fluency ahead of the coming school year. Programming reflects three of FHN's five core pillars — STEM, Academic Literacy, and Health & Athletics — while weaving in leadership development throughout each day's activities.

Every camper will receive a complimentary daily camp T-shirt, breakfast and lunch, and access to learning tools and materials provided at no additional cost. The four-day experience is built around hands-on STEM exploration, structured leadership-development sessions, and academic literacy support intended to strengthen reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills before students return to the classroom.
"This camp is about giving our scholars four transformative days of growth, leadership, and academic excellence," said Dexter Porter, Founder and President of Five Horsemen Nonprofit. "We built this program so that every student who walks through the door — regardless of their family's ability to pay — leaves with sharper skills, greater confidence, and a clearer sense of what leadership looks like in their own lives."
"Atlanta Public Schools students deserve enrichment opportunities that stretch them academically and personally, and this camp delivers both," said Chris Morris, Co-Founder and Vice President of Five Horsemen Nonprofit. "From STEM projects to literacy support, every element of this camp is designed to build the bridge to excellence that sits at the heart of our mission."
