ATLANTA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp has appointed Judge Susan Sarratt Camp as the new State Court Judge for Douglas County. This appointment comes after the passage of HB 1236, which created a vacancy in the position.

Judge Camp has been serving as a Magistrate Judge in Douglas County since 1995 and was elected to the Chief Magistrate Judge position in 1998. She holds the honor of being the first female judge to be elected in Douglas County and has dedicated nearly thirty years to serving her community from the bench.

Before becoming a judge, Camp worked as an assistant district attorney in North Georgia's Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. She later entered private practice in Douglasville. Camp holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia.

As a proud mother of two sons, Judge Camp resides in Douglas County and is eager to continue serving her community in this new role as State Court Judge.
