ATLANTA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that the Georgia Student Finance Commission Board has unanimously voted to approve his recommendation of Chris Green as the next president of the state agency. Green will officially take on this role at the beginning of April, following the retirement of current president Lynne Riley.

Governor Kemp expressed his excitement for Green's new leadership role, stating, "I'm honored to congratulate Chris as he prepares for this new position at an agency that has provided educational opportunities for generations of Georgians." He also highlighted Green's extensive background in higher education and expressed confidence in his ability to continue serving students and promoting economic prosperity in Georgia.

Green currently serves as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs at the Georgia Student Finance Commission. He brings a wealth of experience in both higher education and state government, having previously held positions such as Director of Government and Community Affairs at Georgia State University and Director of Economic Development for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

In addition to his work in higher education, Green has also served in various roles within state government, including Director of External Affairs at the Georgia Student Finance Commission and Deputy Policy Director at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. He holds a Masters of Public Administration and a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia.

Governor Kemp also took a moment to thank outgoing president Lynne Riley for her years of service to the state. He praised her contributions to groundbreaking programs like Georgia MATCH and acknowledged her instrumental role in Georgia's success. Riley will be retiring after serving as head of GSFC, as well as holding positions such as head of the Department of Revenue and State Treasury.

As Green prepares to take on his new role, Governor Kemp and his family extended their best wishes to both him and Riley. They expressed their gratitude for Riley's dedication and wished her well as she looks forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren.
