ATLANTA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that Trey Bennett has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA). The decision was approved by the GEFA Board of Directors and will be effective as of November 16.

Bennett will be taking over the position from Hunter Hill, who has been serving as the authority's executive director since July 1, 2022. Governor Kemp expressed his gratitude for Bennett's years of dedicated service to his administration and congratulated him on his new leadership role. He also thanked Hill for his contributions to the state and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Bennett is currently serving as General Counsel and Grants Division Director in the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget (OPB). With over a decade of legal and governmental experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. Prior to joining Governor Kemp's administration in 2020, Bennett served as Deputy Executive Counsel to the governor where he played a key role in drafting legislative measures and advising on the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his time at OPB, Bennett oversaw the efficient administration of the $4.8 billion State Fiscal Recovery Fund, which supported various grant projects across Georgia. Before entering public service, he worked as an assistant district attorney and private litigator in Northeast Georgia. Bennett holds a J.D. from the University of Georgia and currently resides in Hoschton with his wife and four children.

Governor Kemp expressed confidence in Bennett's abilities to lead GEFA and ensure that Georgia's infrastructure assets meet the needs of its citizens and businesses. With his extensive experience in both law and government, Bennett is well-equipped to take on this new challenge.
