Atlanta, GA ~ Atlanta, GA - In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that Irving Tissue will be expanding its Macon facility with a nearly $600 million investment, resulting in the creation of at least 100 new jobs. The news was celebrated at Irving Tissue's fifth anniversary event in Macon, where company President Robert K. Irving, Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, and other state and local leaders were present.

Governor Kemp expressed his gratitude towards Irving Tissue for their continued investment in the community since they first chose Macon as their location in 2017. He stated that the company has already invested around $1.5 billion and created 400 well-paying jobs in the area, with another 100 on the way. He also emphasized that Georgia's strong business environment and relationships with job creators do not end after agreements are signed.

Irving Tissue's current facility is located at 1897 Allen Road in the Sofkee Industrial Park and currently employs over 400 people. The facility produces high-quality household paper products such as soft bath tissue and absorbent paper towels.

President Robert Irving expressed his appreciation for the state of Georgia's commitment to economic prosperity, job creation, and growth. He credited the team's efforts in promoting Georgia's advantages and fostering a positive business environment for making this expansion possible. He also acknowledged the skilled workforce in the area and thanked employees, customers, and suppliers for their support.

The expansion will include a third ThruAir Dry paper making machine, additional converting lines, and a new fully automated warehouse. This will increase Irving Tissue's annual ThruAir Dry capacity by 75,000 tonnes (equivalent to 15 million cases) and bring the total annual capacity at the Macon facility to 225,000 tonnes (equivalent to 45 million cases).

Mayor Lester Miller of Macon-Bibb County expressed his excitement for the expansion, stating that Irving Tissue has been more than just a business in the community. Candice Scott, Regional Project Manager for Georgia Department of Economic Development's (GDEcD) Global Commerce team, represented GDEcD in this competitive project in partnership with MBCIA. She highlighted Irving Tissue's contribution to the community over the past five years and how each expansion builds upon partnerships and collaboration.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson congratulated Irving Tissue and MBCIA on this milestone. He acknowledged their efforts in becoming an integral part of the community and credited Georgia's business-friendly environment and world-class logistics infrastructure for supporting their growth.
