Atlanta, GA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed that SOLARCYCLE, a cutting-edge solar recycling company, will be expanding its operations in Polk County to meet the growing demand for solar panel recycling services. The company plans to invest an additional $62 million to increase its panel recycling capacity to 10 million solar panels per year and create 640 new full-time jobs.
Governor Kemp expressed his gratitude for SOLARCYCLE's decision to accelerate their expansion in northwest Georgia, stating that it will greatly benefit the region's economy. He also acknowledged the efforts of local and state partners who made this growth possible and looks forward to its impact in the years to come.
The new facility will be located across the street from SOLARCYCLE's previously announced 1.1-million-square-foot solar glass factory, which is expected to employ an additional 617 people. The factory will use recycled materials from retired solar panels from the recycling facility to produce five to six gigawatts worth of solar glass annually. This positions SOLARCYCLE as one of the first manufacturers of specialized glass for crystalline-silicon (c-Si) photovoltaics in the United States.

CEO and Co-Founder of SOLARCYCLE, Suvi Sharma, expressed their excitement about partnering with Governor Kemp and Polk County for this project. He stated that due to the continued demand for solar recycling and domestic manufacturing, they were able to scale their operations and begin hiring sooner than originally planned. Sharma also commended Governor Kemp for his leadership in supporting clean energy policies that have made it possible for them to expand their manufacturing in Georgia and bring good jobs and investment to local communities.
SOLARCYCLE has acquired an existing building at 270 North Park Boulevard in Cedartown, adjacent to their new facility under construction at Cedartown North Business Park - a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) certified site. The company plans to renovate the 255,000-square-foot building to house their solar panel recycling operations. The facility is expected to be operational in the second half of 2025 and will be hiring for full-time positions in manufacturing, engineering, management, research and design, and support staff. Interested applicants can find open roles on the company's website.
President and CEO of Development Authority of Polk County, Chris Thomas, expressed his excitement about SOLARCYCLE's decision to expedite their manufacturing process by refurbishing an existing vacant facility and creating more job opportunities. He stated that this expansion not only showcases the confidence businesses have in the community as a place to invest but also promises significant economic benefits. Thomas also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting SOLARCYCLE's growth and success.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development's (GDEcD) Global Commerce team was represented by Senior Regional Project Manager Lori Dowdy in this competitive project. They worked closely with the Development Authority of Polk County, Georgia Power, and Georgia Quick Start to bring this expansion to fruition.
GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson highlighted the importance of SOLARCYCLE's technology in reducing our reliance on importing new materials by utilizing recycled materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. He also praised northwest Georgia for being a center of manufacturing in the state for decades and now producing technology for clean energy.
Georgia is ranked seventh by cumulative solar capacity according to the Solar Energy Industries Association, making it a Top Ten state for installed solar. The state's energy solutions providers are playing a crucial role in accelerating the development of renewable energy products by lowering risks, reducing costs, providing access to innovative industry research, and investing in a superior infrastructure network.
With SOLARCYCLE's accelerated expansion plans and commitment towards sustainable practices, Georgia is set to continue its growth as a leader in attracting jobs from emerging industries.
