NEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2023 ~ Today, Hinge is launching One More Hour™, a new social impact initiative to tackle the loneliness epidemic among Gen Z. The program will provide grants of up to $25,000 to social groups and organizations in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City that offer fresh, affordable, and recurring in-person opportunities for Gen Z to connect with others.
Josh Penny, Hinge's Director of Social Impact said: "Adding more time to connect in person with others is one of those things that's easy to say, but is actually a little challenging to do. Social clubs and groups offer young adults the chance to plug into recurring moments of connection and to find community along the way. With One More Hour's new fund, we simply want to make these important resources more accessible."
Hinge has been working with DoSomething Strategic and the Foundation for Social Connection to develop impact benchmarks for the program and identify the organizations. Additionally, One More Hour will work with a group of Gen Z judges to select the final awardees of the grants.

Hinge has also joined the Coalition to End Social Isolation & Loneliness this year in order to advocate for policies and initiatives that reduce loneliness. The company also supports Crisis Text Line in expanding its resources on loneliness so that young adults can access support more effectively. Furthermore, Hinge collaborated with the Foundation for Social Connection on a Distraction-Free Dating Guide as well as worked closely with the Surgeon General during the pandemic in order to help combat loneliness among daters.
Starting from January 2024 onwards, 501(c)3 or fiscally sponsored organizations in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City can apply for grants from $10,000 up till $25,000 each at hinge.co/onemorehour from Monday 8th January 2024 until Tuesday 30th January 2024. Hinge will track the number of connections made through these funded programs as well as conduct surveys in order measure their impact on participants' well-being.
