ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. - GeorgiaChron -- Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R-Rome) received a 2024 "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The award, which is given at the end of every two-year legislative term to state legislators who actively support major GMA initiatives and goals, was presented to Hufstetler on October 17th in Adairsville.
During the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions of the General Assembly, Sen. Hufstetler, as Senate Finance Chairman, oversaw much of the revenue and taxation legislation affecting cities. Sen. Hufstetler consistently considered the municipal impact of legislation and worked to address needs and concerns of cities through the legislative process. In particular, GMA is appreciative of Sen. Hufstetler's guidance in crafting and improving House Bill 581, which institutes significant changes to property and sales tax but preserved local decision-making authority.
