Charles River Films Garners Prestigious Recognition, Solidifying Position in Independent Film Landscape
ATLANTA - GeorgiaChron -- Charles River Films, a trailblazing independent production company, has clinched multiple accolades and partnerships over the past year, further cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in the realm of innovative storytelling. The company's recent achievements include several new awards and a prominent producing partnership for the feature script, "Funkle Fattie" based on the book written by Healy Lange, COO of Charles River Films.
"Funkle Fattie" offers a nostalgic look at a young man growing up during the anti-Vietnam War era of 1974. The world's turbulence juxtaposes his challenging and personally heartbreaking transition from boyhood to manhood. Development is ongoing.
As for more recent accolades, the Charles River Films' pilot script, "Letters to Addy" was named 2022 quarter-finalist at the esteemed Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition and has been scooped up by People Store.
Says COO, Healy Lange, "We are also excited also about our Kaufman-esque script, "Blue" which has been described by one insider as 'elegant storytelling' and by BlueCat Screenplay Competition analysis as 'masterful and brilliant'... I'll take it especially since BlueCat did not select it. Funny, but fitting."

Lange says they are actively seeking attachments for "Blue", with Paris Jackson and Joey King topping their wish list.
The company has also garnered a littany of awards for the provocative and weird little film , "Orphan Doll (https://pro.imdb.com/title/tt6530046/)" with the latest being, the New York Film Festival Best Indie Selection, 2024. (https://wildfilmmaker.net/new-york-film-festival-best-indie-selection-2024/) The wildly strange, but critically acclaimed short film is a poignant exploration of loss and mental illness. It was the little-film-that-could throughout its festival run in 2022, and it keeps on chugging. This year, it is an official selection at the New York Film Festival Best Indie Selection 2024. This recognition comes on the heels of its triumph as Best Short Film at 8 AND HALFILM in Rome (https://www.imdb.com/event/ev0035180/2022/1/), a festival spearheaded by the renowned Michele Diomà. The event will be prominently featured in The Hollywood Reporter, (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/) marking a significant milestone for Charles River Films.

And, CRF is venturing into the horror genre with a concept film that promises to subvert audience expectations. The horror script, "Nightfall at Crow Canyon" is "sort of "Carrie" meets "Nightmare on Elm Street", a throwback to a different time in horror," says Lange.
The company's growing reputation for originality and execution has been steadily building and with these recent accolades marks a new chapter in its ascent.
