CINCINNATI, Oct. 2, 2024 ~ Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) has announced its commitment to providing support for disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The company's chairman and CEO, Rodney McMullen, expressed his concern for those affected by the hurricane and emphasized the importance of coming together to help those in need.

The grocery retailer is taking various actions to assist with relief efforts, including providing food and funds to affected regions. Customers can also contribute by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar or making a donation at checkout stations at Harris Teeter locations and all Kroger stores in the Atlanta and Nashville divisions. These donations, along with a matching grant from the Kroger Co. Foundation, will benefit the American Red Cross, an organization that is annually supported by the foundation for disaster relief efforts.

Kroger is also distributing truckloads of drinkable water and ice to communities in need and plans to continue these efforts in the coming days. As community needs evolve, the company intends to increase its support over the next few weeks.

In addition to its contributions to the American Red Cross, Kroger is a longtime supporter of the United Service Organizations (USO). The company sponsors USO | Kroger Mobile Canteens that are deployed to impacted areas to provide support for National Guard members assisting with disaster relief efforts and military service members personally affected by Hurricane Helene. These canteens offer food, drinks, and a place for service members to rest and recharge while answering this urgent call to serve. Kroger will also be supporting the USO with gift cards.

Furthermore, Kroger would like to extend its gratitude towards vendors who participated in their Wellness Festival event but were unable to attend due to Hurricane Helene's impact. These generous vendors have donated eligible products towards hurricane disaster relief efforts.

As rescue crews and relief organizations continue their work on the ground, Kroger hopes that their support will help feed both those affected by the hurricane and those who are helping rebuild affected communities. Customers can donate in-store at registers through the end of October to contribute to these efforts.
