Georgia Lakeside Destination Will Be Aglow with Thousands of Lanterns Over the Water for Atlanta Leg of National Festival
BUFORD, Ga. - GeorgiaChron -- Facilitated by Viive Events, The Lights Fest will illuminate the night sky for the first time above Lake Lanier on Saturday, October 25. Hosted by Lanier Islands Resort, thousands of participants will take part in a breathtaking spectacle, as 100% biodegradable, fire-resistant lanterns made of rice paper, string, and bamboo fill the air. With events that span from as far south as Savannah to as far west as Southern California, the Georgia lakeside destination is proud to represent the Atlanta leg of the national festival.
The Lights Festival™ is an event where people of all backgrounds and beliefs can come together for an uplifting, positive, and unforgettable experience. Some participants will use the lantern release to honor lost loved ones. Some will write on their lanterns a list of their hopes and dreams for the future, while others will use it as a way of letting go of things from their past. Some will come simply to enjoy the food, live music, dancing, and the breathtaking sight of thousands of lanterns filling the air.

"The Lights Fest is just the beginning," said Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort. "While our team designs, creates, and implements dozens of events at the Islands every year, we hope to further enhance our guest experience by adding a number of national and regional festivals to our event calendar. Our goal is that, virtually 365 days out of the year, there is literally never a dull moment at our resort. The fact that The Lights Fest benefits a local nonprofit makes it all the more appealing. Our partnership with Georgia Mountain Food Bank means our company and our guests can directly support our neighbors in need through events like The Lights Fest and our upcoming Magical Nights of Lights. We would be nowhere without the love and support of the community that surrounds our resort. It's our job to wrap our arms around those in the community who could use our help."
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. on October 25 at Lanier Islands Resort - 45 miles north of Atlanta at 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford. For those participants who'd like to light up the night and extend the magic with an overnight stay after The Lights Fest, the lakeside destination is offering a special accommodation package. The Lights Fest + Lakeside Stay (https://www.lanierislands.com/special-events/the-lights-fest/) features deluxe accommodations at Legacy Lodge, tickets for four to The Lights Fest, and one lantern. This package can be booked online at www.lanierislands.com or by calling 770-945-8787. For those who wish solely to attend The Lights Fest, tickets can be purchased through the event website at https://thelightsfest.com/sky-lantern-events/atlanta/.
