Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) is bringing pop-up gyms to different neighborhoods every second Saturday of the month. The next gym is Saturday, August 13 at Rosa Jackson Recreation Center (1211 Maynard Street).
The gym starts at 10:00 a.m. with yoga, followed by a drum circle at 11:00 a.m., and then mediation at 11:30 a.m. A therapist will also be available on site from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone.
"We want everyone to benefit from these stress-free activities," says MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke. "Taking care of your mental health is vital so we encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities."
Pop-up gyms will happen every month, rain or shine. You can learn more about MMHM by visiting and liking its brand-new Facebook page or by visiting www.maconmentalhealthmatters.com.
