STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - GeorgiaChron -- Stone Mountain Elementary School is excited to announce the Stone Mountain Music Dash 5K, a community-driven event aimed at raising funds for the school's music department. The event will take place on October 26, 2024 in Stone Mountain Georgia and promises to bring together families, educators, and community members from Dekalb County and the greater metro Atlanta area for a day of fitness, fun, and friendly competition.

Stone Mountain Elementary greatly depends on community support to provide enriching opportunities for its students. The funds raised from this event will directly benefit the music department, helping to purchase new instruments, sheet music, and other essential resources.

In addition to the 5K race, the event will feature a team competition among local schools. Teams of students, teachers, and staff from various schools will compete for the coveted Mountain Maestro Trophy, awarded to the team with the lowest average time. This initiative aims to foster school spirit, promote healthy activity, and build a sense of community.

"Stone Mountain Elementary is entering its 100th year of existence in 2025. It is the ONLY school in the Stone Mountain Village. Our goal is to give our students the opportunity to have a quality Music Education program that they would not have otherwise due to being a Title 1 school.
