ATLANTA, May 29, 2024 ~ As the 2023-2024 academic year comes to a close, CENTEGIX®, the leading provider of wearable safety technology for K-12 education, has released its highly anticipated 2024 School Safety Trends Report. This comprehensive report offers a detailed analysis of school safety incidents observed throughout the year, using data collected from the CENTEGIX Safety Platform™.

With over 800 districts nationwide utilizing CENTEGIX solutions, the company's flagship product CrisisAlert™ has become a staple in school safety plans. This wearable panic button solution includes dynamic incident mapping and is designed to provide real-time locating features for incident response and visitor management.

One of the key highlights of the report is the significant increase in the number of people protected by CENTEGIX. As of January 2023, over 10 million individuals, including students, educators, and staff, are now covered by CENTEGIX – a 45% increase from previous years.

The report also reveals a shift in how school staff are initiating alerts. Compared to previous years, there has been a 40% increase in alerts initiated by educators and staff this school year. This suggests a move away from traditional mobile phone apps towards wearable panic buttons, which have shown to yield greater adoption among staff members.

Furthermore, the report highlights that everyday emergencies such as medical and behavioral incidents account for 99% of all alerts. This indicates that CENTEGIX's technology is not only effective in responding to extreme situations but also plays a crucial role in managing day-to-day incidents.

Another significant finding from the report is that more than half of all school safety incidents occur outside of classrooms in areas such as hallways, parking lots, or sports fields. This emphasizes the importance of precise location information for an emergency response system as it allows first responders to quickly locate and provide assistance where it is needed most.

Brent Cobb, CEO of CENTEGIX, expressed his satisfaction with the impact their technology has had on school safety. "We're working with hundreds of districts across the country to improve school safety, and our technology continues to have a significant impact on everyday incidents and emergencies," he said. "The badges are used by staff every day to de-escalate altercations, to get life-saving devices to medical emergencies, and to provide staff with support the moment it's needed."

Cobb also stressed the importance of equipping staff with an effective incident response solution, stating that it can significantly impact the outcome in a crisis situation. He added that schools across the U.S. have recognized this and have chosen the CENTEGIX Safety Platform as the foundation for their school safety plan.

One teacher from Meade County School District in Kentucky shared her experience with CENTEGIX's technology, describing how it helped during an emergency just two weeks after its implementation. "There were probably about four of us in the general area of where this [emergency] occurred, and I think all four of us ended up pushing our button," said Michele Miller. "Within a matter of seconds, three administrators showed up at the location and took over the situation. I've been here 18 years, that just doesn't happen – that's the quickest response I've ever seen."

With CENTEGIX's technology, K-12 teachers and staff are empowered to respond to any incident – from everyday situations to extreme emergencies – anywhere on campus. To learn more about their 2024 School Safety Trends Report and download the full report, visit CENTEGIX's website today.
