An exhibition exploring how Latinx artists transform memory, labor, and migration into acts of resistance and renewal.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - GeorgiaChron -- Eyes On Art Group proudly presents Siembra, a group exhibition exploring the social inequalities and cultural oppression experienced by Latinx communities across the United States. Featuring work across painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and installation, Siembra reflects on how the histories of colonization, labor, migration, and identity continue to shape belonging and representation today. Juried by Christopher Gregory Rivera, Diego Anaya, Miguel J. Arisa, and Miriam Arroyo, Siembra will be on view at Black Brick Project from November 19 through December 19, 2025.
In a moment shaped by migration debates, cultural erasure, and shifting ideas of belonging, Siembra brings together 18 artists who confront the intertwined legacies of colonization, labor, displacement, and survival—histories that continue to shape Latinx life across generations. Through painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, collage, and installation, the artists draw from lived experience and inherited traditions. Some reconnect with materials tied to ancestry—indigo, clay, textile—while others work with family archives, domestic spaces, or portraits of labor to honor the communities that raised them. Across their practices, land, body, and home emerge as interconnected sites of endurance, memory, and becoming. In Siembra, materials become testimony, labor becomes love, and art becomes a way of planting what we hope will grow next.

"Choosing 18 artists out of a selection from such an exceptional pool of submissions is not an easy task. The most important criteria, quality and relevance, shine through in these exceptional practices. Eyes on Art Group thus proudly presents a multi-themed, multi-media, multi-generational cross-section of Latinx work fulfilling our commitment to bolstering new talent alongside more established ones. Informed by ideas associated with the plight of immigrants, their personal histories as inserted in a larger global context, as well as issues of identity, the works here exhibited display a deep reflection on the complexities of the issues, as well as distinct individual experiences and style."
