MARIETTA, Ga. - GeorgiaChron -- The Strand Presents the Tony Award-Winning Musical Parade: A Powerful, Haunting Story Rooted in Marietta and Georgia History
MARIETTA, GA | July 21, 2026 — The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre is proud to announce its upcoming production of the Tony Award-winning musical Parade, running from Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Set against one of the most significant and complex chapters in Georgia history, Parade comes to the Marietta stage just miles from where the events it portrays unfolded. Because these events are so deeply connected to the history of Marietta and Georgia, the production offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience nationally acclaimed theatre in the very community where this history unfolded. The case culminated in Frank's 1915 lynching in Marietta, an event that became a national turning point in conversations about antisemitism, mob violence, and the American justice system.

With a book by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) and a stirring, complex score by Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, The Bridges of Madison County), the musical follows Frank's struggle to navigate a hostile community and a justice system strained by political pressure. At the heart of the narrative is the unwavering advocacy of his wife, Lucille, whose determination to clear her husband's name serves as a testament to the endurance of love and conviction in the face of overwhelming adversity.
